Ben Todd is an Adelaide-based drummer, percussionist, composer, and bandleader whose dynamic career spans international touring, recording, and musical direction.
From 2009 to 2023, Ben performed worldwide with the internationally acclaimed Cirque du Soleil, where he was a featured drummer, percussionist, and bandleader across four productions: Corteo, Kooza, Volta, and most recently Alegría. This role took him across Japan, Russia, the United States, Spain, Canada, France, New Zealand, Australia, Belgium, and England, performing at the highest level of live entertainment.
Alongside his work with Cirque, Ben continues to be an in-demand touring and session musician. He has recently joined and toured with Australian rock icons The Superjesus, as well as Dojo Rise, further expanding his presence in the contemporary music scene.
A versatile performer, Ben has collaborated with a wide range of renowned artists including Kate Ceberano, Paulini, Ben Folds, Doug Parkinson, Rhonda Burchmore, James Morrison, David Campbell, Barry Humphries, and Glenn Shorrock. His musical theatre credits include major productions such as Cats (Australia/New Zealand tour), The Wedding Singer, Miss Saigon, Grease, Chicago and Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.
In addition to performing, Ben is a highly active recording artist and producer. He owns and operates his own recording studio, working with musicians around the world and delivering high-quality drum and percussion tracks remotely from his Adelaide base.
A third-generation drummer, Ben began playing at just three years old and was already touring nationally before reaching high school, quickly establishing himself within the Australian music scene. He became one of the youngest Australian artists to secure endorsements with Zildjian Cymbals, Remo drumheads, and Vic Firth sticks, and has conducted drum clinics and appeared as a featured artist at the Ultimate Drummers Weekend in Melbourne.
Most recently, Ben has signed as an endorsed artist with DW Drums and Roland, while continuing his long-standing partnerships with Zildjian Cymbals, Vic Firth, Remo, and Prologix Percussion.
As a bandleader and composer, Ben released his debut solo album 20TEN in 2010, followed by several acclaimed projects: Ben Todd and Adam Page Duo EP (2015), Ben Todd Quintet EP (2016), Memento (2020), and Guiding Light (2021) on ABC Jazz.
